waiting: initial studies
A theatre set designer once told me that all she needed to portray a story was a horizontal line and a vertical line - two ingredients of mechanical drawing to form structures which contain time and narrative - My own thoughts on structure have informed the work shown here - I take photographs of built structures from both the front and the side - the diptych presentation of these two perspectives relate directly to the conventions of mechanical drawings - photographic information substituted for drawing - shot on colour negative film and loosely framed - 'waiting' is a series of images concerning absence and expectancy.
