Project: Thames Reflex / Waterloo Bridge Venue: SNAPSHOTS as part of London Photo Month Brick Lane Gallery / The Annexe 93 - 95 Sclater Street London E1 6HR 25 October - 4 November Private View: Wednesday 24 October / 6 - 8.30pm Waterloo Bridge was re-constructed during the Second World War and because the traditional workforce was depleted the construction company employed a small but significant number of women to make up the shortfall. I wanted my photographs to talk about the bridges physical structure over the ebb and flo of the Thames whilst being informed by the narrative of the bridge's tale. Three intimate spaces are integral to any bridge - the entrance to the bridge, which invites us - the crown of the bridge, where at its highest point evokes in us a sense of weightlessness - and the dark underside of the bridge which is atmospherically loaded. My images were made by working from these fundamental spaces of Waterloo Bridge.
